How do I use Canvas for multi-node generation?

Updated

Canvas is Higgsfield's node-based infinite board for multi-model visual production. Instead of generating one output at a time and copying results between tools, you build a visual pipeline on one screen: a prompt feeds an image, the image feeds a video, the video feeds an edit. You only spend credits when a node actually generates, not when you build the pipeline.

What is Canvas?

Every Higgsfield model is available as a node on the board. Beyond chaining them, Canvas lets you run models in parallel and compare outputs side by side, save an entire workflow as a reusable template, and collaborate with a team in real time on the same board.

How do I start a Canvas workflow?

Open higgsfield.aiCanvasNew canvas.

  1. Add a prompt node. Click the board and add a Text Prompt node.

  2. Add a generation node. Connect the prompt node to a generation node and select the model.

  3. Connect outputs to the next step. Drag the output of one generation node into the input of the next.

  4. Add reference nodes if needed. Upload reference images or audio files, or pull in an existing generation from your Assets.

  5. Generate. Click Generate on each node you want to run: nodes can be run individually or triggered in sequence.

  6. Save as a template. Save the workflow for future projects.

How do references work in Canvas?

Seedance nodes work directly with connected reference images. Describe the role of the reference explicitly at the beginning of the prompt: whether it's the main character, a location, a product, or another asset. The reference function must be described in the prompt, not just connected visually.

Kling nodes treat a directly connected image as a start frame rather than a character reference. For Kling character or element references, create the element on the platform first, then reference it with its element tag (@element-name) in the prompt.

Audio nodes can be attached to video generation nodes for voice references, voiceover, or audio sync workflows.

How does collaboration work in Canvas?

Multiple team members can work on the same canvas simultaneously: each can add nodes, connect references, and trigger generations independently, and outputs appear on the shared board in real time. To invite a collaborator, use the Share option in the canvas settings.

Can I use Canvas Nodes in Figma or FigJam?

Yes. The official Higgsfield plugin for Figma and FigJam includes Canvas Nodes in FigJam with automatic pipelines and chain workflow support. Install it by searching "Higgsfield AI" in Figma or FigJam plugins. Credits come from your Higgsfield plan balance at the same rates as other integrations. See What external integrations does Higgsfield support?

Common issues and fixes

Canvas is not loading. Hard refresh: Ctrl+Shift+R on Windows, Cmd+Shift+R on Mac. If it still doesn't load, try incognito mode or a different browser. See What should I do if the Higgsfield site won't load?

My Kling node is treating the reference image as a start frame. This is expected. For Kling character references, create the element first, then reference it with the @element-tag in the prompt.

My Seedance node is ignoring the reference. Describe the role of the reference explicitly at the beginning of the prompt.

Canvas froze and I lost my work. Canvas autosaves periodically: a hard refresh restores the most recent autosave. If the project is missing, contact us through higgsfield.ai/contact with the generation ID if a specific generation is affected: you can copy it from the generation's page URL in Assets.

Got any questions left?

Building and connecting nodes is free. Credits are deducted only when a node generates content.

Yes, Canvas saves your board periodically as you work.

No. Unlimited access applies only to standard generation on higgsfield.ai: all generations in Canvas consume credits regardless of your plan. See What are Unlimited models, and which plans include them?
