Direct dialogue through selection

The dialogue request contains too many beats for one dependable generation, so the source asks Claude to split it. Even then, the finished exchange is assembled from four different shots. Each fragment earns its place by doing one job well.

Keep a take ledger

Read each row as an edit decision: keep one fragment for the named job and leave the rest of that generation behind.

Selected fragmentThe one job it solvesWhat is left behind
Opening and speaking angleEstablishes the exchange and travelerThe unusable remainder of that generation
Mirror close-upShows doubt before the driver's decisionOther acting beats that do not land
Mustache peelMakes the disguise feel like a physical propThe rushed removal from the first assembly
Glasses removalGives the reveal a clean visual flourishAny weaker surrounding action
Control and pedal insertsMakes the launch readableMissed pedal and rushed engine actions
Traveler reactionSells acceleration through body movementTakes without the pinned posture and gasp

The timeline exposes a pacing failure that isolated clips hide: the disguise comes off too quickly. The correction gives the joke breathing room before the sport-mode action starts. After the disguise is gone, later prompts switch back to the clean hero reference rather than carrying the mustache into the next state.

Select a take with a sentence you can finish: “I am keeping this because it supplies ___.” If the answer is only “it looks best,” inspect the story beat again.

The edit is understandable when every kept fragment has one named purpose and every character-state change happens before the next reference is used.

Split the interior dialogue

— REFERENCE DEFINITIONS — @car_sheet: Modern dark red sports sedan, sleek fastback silhouette, black mesh rims, tinted windows, dark premium leather interior with a central rearview mirror — vehicle appearance and interior design language reference. Reference. @car_wheel2: Black leather steering wheel with a stitched rim and a silver four-pointed star emblem on the center hub, modern digital instrument cluster behind it, dark premium cabin interior — steering wheel and emblem reference, interior detail lock: use THIS exact steering wheel and dashboard in every shot where the wheel is visible. Reference. @loc_pick-up: Sun-washed Los Angeles intersection — retro gas station on the corner, tall palm trees, low vintage storefronts, hazy downtown skyline, teal-tinted sky, warm late-morning sunlight. The curbs are completely EMPTY — no parked cars anywhere along the street, only occasional cars driving past in motion — environment visible outside the car windows only, lighting and color-mood reference. Reference. @image_1: High wide establishing view of the same LA intersection — the dark red sports sedan parked ALONE at the curb directly in front of the retro gas station, rear three-quarter to camera, angled toward the intersection, empty street around it, no other parked cars anywhere — exact parked position and orientation lock for the car within the location: the car sits precisely like this throughout the whole scene. Reference. @char_girl_passenger: Beautiful young woman in her early 20s, fair pale skin, long dark brunette wavy hair with full straight bangs, delicate refined features, soft natural makeup, grey-blue eyes, brown sleeveless ribbed mock-neck top, cream high-waisted wide-leg pleated trousers with a slim dark brown belt with gold buckle, small dark brown leather shoulder bag, pointed burgundy-brown leather shoes — character appearance only. Reference. @hero_secretive_03: Young man in his early 20s in disguise — light tan skin, dark brown eyes, brown baseball cap, silver-frame rectangular glasses with orange-tinted lenses, thick black fake stick-on mustache, small silver hoop earrings in both ears, dark curly hair peeking from under the cap, brown suede zip-up jacket over a cream white crew-neck t-shirt, blue straight-fit jeans, white low-top sneakers — driver's appearance for this entire part. Reference. — TECHNICAL BLOCK — Cinematic photoreal. 16:9. 12s. SFX only, no music. Natural grain, organic color, soft contrast, filmic look. NO CGI. NON-IP. Multiple cuts, dynamic cinematic editing. English dialogue. Extreme facial micro-expression detail. Accurate lip-sync on all dialogue. All characters blink naturally at organic intervals in every shot. Facial reactions perfectly synchronized with physical actions — no delayed reactions. Precise eyelines: when characters look at each other, their gaze lands exactly on the other person's eyes. — PROMPT — Interior of @car_sheet parked at the curb on @loc_pick-up, in the EXACT position and orientation shown in @image_1 — alone in front of the retro gas station, angled toward the intersection, empty curbs stretching in both directions, only an occasional car passing by in motion outside the windows; the car stays completely stationary for the entire scene. Opening shot — DIAGONAL cabin angle: camera placed inside at the front-passenger corner of the cabin, just above the front seatback, aimed diagonally back across the cabin toward the rear-left door — three-quarter front angle on the rear seat, the diagonal line of the cabin running through the frame, warm sunlight streaming through the rear side window, medium framing, static handheld, fixed camera position. The rear door swings open INTO frame and @char_girl_passenger drops hurriedly onto the rear seat, out of breath — chest rising and falling with quick shallow breaths, a strand of hair fallen across her face, visibly rushed — she pulls the door shut with a quick firm slam and settles, still catching her breath, brushing the strand back, flustered but composed. Cut to a shot from the rear seat where @char_girl_passenger sits, aimed straight at the central rearview mirror, large-format lens, shallow depth of field — the mirror's reflection holds ONLY @hero_secretive_03, mustache and orange-tinted glasses under the brown cap, no one else reflected; his eyes in the reflection are aimed up into the mirror at the passenger behind, one brow arching in amused, good-natured bemusement — ironic, warm, not annoyed — and he starts to say, unhurried and wry: "What the ..." — Cut to a tight CLOSE-UP of @char_girl_passenger — static handheld, her face filling the frame, shallow depth of field, warm sunlight from the rear side window modeling her features, her eyeline raised and aimed forward past the edge of the driver's headrest, locked toward the driver: she cuts him off mid-word, not letting him finish, speaking between quick breaths in a quiet restrained voice — polite, composed urgency, breathless but soft, NOT commanding, NOT dramatic, no raised voice: "I'm late, sir. Airport. As fast as you can.." — inner corners of her brows lifted a touch, a soft crease on her forehead, a brief apologetic tightening around her mouth, chest still rising and falling at the bottom of frame, eyes blinking naturally. Cut back to the rearview-mirror shot — same framing, his eyes up in the mirror on her — and he does NOT answer right away: a full silent second of visible deliberation as he decides whether to take her — his gaze slips off the mirror, drifting down and aside toward the road, brows drawing in a fraction, one slow thoughtful blink, jaw shifting subtly as he weighs it — then the decision lands: his eyes lift back UP into the mirror, settling directly on her, a small spark of resolve, the bemusement melting into calm confidence with a wry ironic edge, and only now he answers: "Buckle up. It won't be a long ride." — the shot ends on his eyes holding steady in the mirror. SFX only: rear door swinging open, quick firm door slam, her light breathless gasps, leather seat creak, low engine idle, a short beat of near-silence during his pause, occasional car whooshing past outside, close breathy dialogue presence.
