What should I do if my payment failed?

Updated

Most payment failures come from one of a few causes: insufficient funds, a bank decline, an expired card, incorrect card details, or an incomplete 3D Secure verification. Try the steps below in order.

What should I try first?

Follow these in order:

  1. Complete any bank verification prompt (3D Secure) if one appears.

  2. Check your card details: expiry date, CVC, and available funds.

  3. Try a different card or payment method (Apple Pay or bank payment).

  4. Try incognito mode or a different browser.

  5. Disable any VPN: some payment processors block VPN connections.

  6. Contact your bank and ask them to authorize online or international payments.

To update your payment method, open Manage AccountSubscription, scroll to Payment methods, and select Add new payment method. Adding a new card sets it as the default for future charges.

My renewal payment failed, what happens now?

If a renewal payment fails, your subscription is temporarily limited: generations are limited and Unlimited model access is restricted until the payment goes through. Stripe retries automatically, and you can also resolve it right away in either of two ways:

  • Pay the unpaid invoice with your existing payment method: open Manage AccountSubscription, scroll to the Upcoming Invoice section, and open All invoices: the unpaid invoice appears there and can be paid directly.

  • Add a new payment method and select Try to charge now: the new card is charged immediately.

Once the payment succeeds, access is restored. If the payment isn't resolved after Stripe's automatic retries, the subscription is eventually canceled.

My Auto-Refill payment failed. What happens?

If an Auto-Refill payment fails, the credit top-up is paused: credits aren't added until a charge succeeds. Update your payment method to resume. See How does Auto-Refill work?

I received an email about a failed payment, is it legitimate?

Yes. If a subscription payment fails, Higgsfield sends an automated email with a Complete payment button that opens Stripe Checkout. Once the payment goes through, your subscription is restored automatically.

Higgsfield will never ask for your card details by email. All payments go through Stripe Checkout only.

I see a charge on my statement but my plan is not active, what do I do?

Contact us through higgsfield.ai/contact with the payment date and amount: this is enough for the team to locate the charge. The last 4 digits of your card can help match it faster, but never share the full card number, expiry, or CVC with anyone. Don't repurchase before the issue is resolved.

Got any questions left?

Complete any 3D Secure verification your bank sent, check card details, and ensure sufficient funds. If the issue persists, try a different payment method.

Banks can decline transactions for security reasons, regional restrictions, or transaction limits unrelated to your balance. Contact your bank to authorize the payment.

Either pay the unpaid invoice with your existing payment method (Manage Account → Subscription → Upcoming Invoice → All invoices), or add a new payment method and select Try to charge now. Access restores automatically once the payment succeeds.

Open Manage Account → Subscription and scroll to the Upcoming Invoice section: All invoices opens the full list, where the unpaid invoice can be paid.

Most often one of the two is a temporary authorization hold that disappears on its own. If both turn out to be real charges, contact Support with the payment date and amount, and don't cancel or repurchase while it's being reviewed: see How do I get a refund for an accidental charge?

Typically 14 days from the failed payment, per the Terms of Use, before the subscription may be canceled. Update your payment method right away rather than waiting for an automatic retry.

Yes. Some payment processors block transactions made through VPN connections.
