How do I Use DoP?

Updated

Higgsfield DoP is how Higgsfield handles cinematic image-to-video. It's Higgsfield's own proprietary model: give it a single image, pick a preset that defines the camera move or effect, and it generates a coherent, directed shot. Unlike diffusion-only approaches, DoP blends diffusion with reinforcement learning, so the model reasons about how a scene should move and evolve over time.

What is Higgsfield DoP?

DoP (Director of Photography) is Higgsfield's native image-to-video model, built for high-quality, controllable, cinematic video generation from images. It's cinematography-aware: trained to understand and control motion, lighting, lens behavior, framing, and spatial composition, so the output reads as a directed shot rather than an animated frame.

The core of DoP is its preset system: each preset is a motion blueprint that defines the camera logic or effect of the clip, from classic camera moves to VFX.

How do I generate with DoP?

Open higgsfield.aiVideoCreate Video, and select a Higgsfield DoP preset (the model appears as Higgsfield Standard in the model selector).

  1. Add your keyframe image. Upload a PNG or JPG, paste from the clipboard, or generate the image right there. A sharp, well-composed image works best: DoP builds the entire shot from it.

  2. Pick a preset. Browse by category: Effects, Basic Camera Control, Epic Camera Control, Catch the Pulse, or the New and Trending feeds. Presets marked Top Choice are curated highlights, and Mix lets you combine presets in one generation.

  3. Describe the scene in the prompt, with details. The Enhance toggle expands your prompt automatically.

  4. Adjust Advanced settings if needed: clip duration (3 or 5 seconds), seed, and steps.

  5. Generate. The credit cost is shown on the Generate button before you confirm.

To generate the keyframe itself without leaving the flow, use the generate it option in the image input, or prepare it in an image model first: Soul for the signature cinematic look, or Nano Banana Pro for precision. See How do I use Soul to generate images?

What is DoP best for?

Cinematic video from keyframes — turning a strong still into a directed shot with intentional camera work.

Creative concepts and storytelling — expressive sequences where scene evolution matters.

Ads, promos, and branded visuals — polished motion for commercial assets.

Image-driven video pipelines — workflows where stills are generated first and animated second, including Popcorn storyboards. See How do I use Popcorn?

DoP is an image-to-video model: it needs a keyframe image as input. Upload one, paste it from the clipboard, or use the generate it option in the image input.

Effects are VFX-driven transformations, Basic and Epic Camera Control are camera moves of increasing intensity, Catch the Pulse is a curated themed collection, and Mix combines presets. New and Trending surface the latest and most-used presets.
