The Philistine army has gathered for slaughter. Terror has seized the men of Israel, and the army of King David has turned and fled. Only David and one other remain to face the rising tide of bronze and blood. Eleazar, son of Dodo, stands alone. As thousands of Philistine soldiers charge, Eleazar doesn't retreat; he lunges. In a whirlwind of steel and divine fury, he cuts through the ranks of the enemy for hours under the scorching sun. He fights until his strength is gone—but his spirit takes over. By the time the field falls silent, a miracle has occurred: his muscles have locked, his knuckles have fused, and his hand is physically "frozen" to the hilt of his sword. The man and the weapon have become one.
