The 4th Venom film begins with Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock being introduced in the most intense opening scene, thinking that Venom has passed away at the end of the previous movie, only to have it discovered that a tiny piece of Venom's symbiote was left behind to find its way back to him. However, their momentary reconciliation is disrupted by the release of Knull (Andy Serkis), after having broken free from his Klyntar prison due to the weakening of the seal holding him captive when Venom was thought to be dead. Hardy plays Eddie with desperation because he had lost what he thought would be his last connection with his life-long symbiote partner, only to have them briefly reunited emotionally before a massive rift in space is opened above San Francisco and Knull descends upon the city with all of his symbiote minions, hell bent on exacting vengeance on the symbiote who stood up to him and did not do as he commanded. What makes this concept so great is taking a group of symbiote hosts who represent the various characteristics of humans, and then pairing them with aliens that are similar yet opposite of those characteristics. Each of these symbiote hosts will be paired with other symbiotes, which will add new layers of complexity to their personalities and provide fascinating examples of symbiotic relationships
