Le Rat

This film challenges the traditional action format. Instead of placing a human hero at the center of explosive combat, it follows a rat — an innocent bystander — running through the trenches of World War I. The battles are intense, but they are never the focus. They exist in the background, shaping the world the rat must survive. The tension comes not from domination, but from vulnerability. The French song woven throughout the film acts as a haunting contrast to the brutality on screen. Its promise of dancing in the moonlight becomes a deceptive lure, culminating in the rat’s final tragic fate.
