This work is a free, contemporary interpretation of the mythical world of the Shahnameh, the timeless epic composed by Ferdowsi. More than a literary masterpiece, the Shahnameh is part of Iran’s cultural memory — a vast poetic chronicle of ancient myths, heroes, and moral imagination that has long served as a vessel for expressing Iranian identity across centuries. Drawing inspiration from one of its most famous heroic confrontations, this adaptation does not aim to simply retell the epic, but to reinterpret it. The myth is brought down from its distant heroic pedestal and placed into a human, contemporary perspective, creating a dialogue between past and present. Here, heroism is no longer only grandeur and legend, but something recognizable and close to modern life. In this way, the piece builds a bridge between classical Persian literary heritage and a modern sensibility — preserving the spirit of Ferdowsi’s world while reflecting it through a new and present-day lens.
