The Day without Guests

Title : The Day Without Guests Short Synopsis:
’The Day Without Guests (손 없는 날)’ is a widely known Korean folk expression tied to days believed to be free from The Guest, a presence associated with misfortune. This film adapts that belief into a ritual hunt in mid-Joseon. Once a month, chosen people are forced to flee through Hanyang at night as The Guests, hidden behind masks and tattered rags. Hunters are promised rank and wealth for capturing The Guests.
To keep the hunt running, Hanyang is divided into four districts. Each night, one district is sealed and emptied, leaving The Guests a place to hide until first light—when hunters wait at the borders.
A poor farmer joins the hunt to save his dying child. Humiliation and reward reshape him. At dawn, he kills a child Guest, and in that moment he becomes the hunt’s most efficient player—until the system turns its next Guest toward the one person he meant to protect.
