When a battered freighter makes an unscheduled hard-dock at a remote repair station, mechanic Kess and her alien partner Tavro find themselves trapped in a darkened corridor with something that came off the ship — something fast, relentless, and hunting by sound. With no weapons, no backup, and a stranger with unknown motives, they have one shot: lure it back through sixty meters of open corridor and blow it into space.
