BLEU

46

Junior is a boy who has not seen his father since the day he set out to sea on a fragile, improvised raft, heading toward the United States in search of a better future. He never returned. Since then, Junior sits on Havana’s seawall each afternoon, speaking to the ocean, waiting for an answer that never comes. One day, he meets Bleu, a mysterious sea creature who claims to have known his father during the journey. Together, they embark on an adventure across Havana, confronting authority and a hostile environment, discovering that hope, friendship, and memory can be stronger than fear. This short film is the first step in a larger narrative universe I would love to develop into a feature film. Expanding Junior and Bleu’s journey into a full-length story is my dream—and the dream of my friends—to create a deeper, more epic and emotionally powerful exploration of migration, absence, and imagination as refuge.
