HOME is a 5-minute historical short film inspired by the first European incursions into the Americas during the era of Christopher Columbus. The film does not seek historical precision, but rather a symbolic and emotional truth. Indigenous civilizations, represented through a Maya-inspired world, and the European conquistadors are portrayed as archetypes rather than exact reconstructions. Different eras, visual references, and anachronisms deliberately coexist to serve a broader reflection on colonization. Through the story of Ikal, a Maya warrior, HOME explores the moment when a land ceases to be lived in harmony and becomes something to be claimed, named, and dominated. What begins as exploration quickly turns into destruction, revealing the darker face of conquest. By blending historical inspiration with poetic fiction, HOME draws a parallel between past colonization and contemporary forms of domination, displacement, and cultural erasure. It is not a historical lesson, but a meditation on memory, power, and belonging and on the idea that no land is ever truly empty.
