The Genesis Block
In a dystopian world drowning under $315 trillion in global debt, every nation's balance counts toward collapse on giant screens. The doomsday clock ticks toward midnight. The system isn't broken — it was never meant to work for us. One woman — Genesis — carries a device that can shut it all down. Surrounded by enforcers, she pulls out a small black device with a glowing orange symbol and presses it. The debt screens drop to zero. The clock stops. The Genesis Block is launched. THE GENESIS BLOCK is a noir action short inspired by the idea that the current debt-based monetary system is working exactly as designed — to benefit the few. Bitcoin represents not a reform of that system, but an exit from it. A peaceful, technological revolution that returns sovereignty to the individual. On January 3, 2009, Block 0 was mined — the Genesis Block — and a fire was lit in cyberspace. This film imagines what it looks like when that fire finally reaches the machine.
