The film is a study of extreme contrast. It lives in the space between the physical (the mud that pulls you down) and the metaphysical (the memories that pull you out). The atmosphere should feel "thick", whether it’s thick with smoke and rain in the trenches or thick with golden sunlight and pollen in the garden.
